Well trauma is as trauma does. I had a decent time this weekend hanging out with zee family. Needless to say it contained a lot ov alcohol and a lot ov reminiscing. My cousin Jamie took us out to some bar downtown that was masking as an alternative club. It was like if all the On Tap people would suddenly collectively decide to hit Zaphods or the Dom all at once. Very strange.
I am going to keep this short because well, I need le coffee which means I have to go le downstairs. Nick discovered - with a big icky mouthful ov EW - that the cream we had was WAY bad. I trusted his judgment and decided to hit Timmie's on my way to work.
Highlights ov my weekend -
1 - The woman Ryan is dating, erm, seeing, erm, IS REALLY GOOD FRIENDS WITH is AMAZING and I love her. I am decidedly marrying her - should this whole thing with Ryan not work out. She is SMRT, artistic, fun and generally incrediberry. Imagine my surprise when she told me that her brother worked at Record Runner. I was like "OH?" Turns out that she was speaking ov Matty, who I don't know personally but who is friends with lumpy_lia and ggerg if I remember correctly [having been introduced to him once a million years ago through one ov you]. Tee hee, small world. I have officially exhausted the dating pool in Ottawa, so things with Nick better work out :P
2 - Wallet was either stolen from my purse/backpack [my best guess] or I left it on the bar [I am pretty sure I had it back at the table] at the club on Satyrday. Good thing: they returned it to the DJ booth. Bad thing: cleaned out ov the money Nick had given me for his rent as well as some USD I was sending out this week [Tara's law ov thievery: it only happens when you have a lot ov money on you]. Visa has no charges and what is done is done. It is just amusing that money got REALLY tight this past weekend...
3 - My cousin Keri's little girl is the cutest thing. She makes me want to have babies RIGHT NOW. We sat around all Sunday singing and doing YMCA with all the movements she giggled like MAD the entire time. Also note, apparently children make low growling sounds when they poo and "No Tara, she isn't possessed and does not require an exorcism." Well la dee da.
Driving in a car leaves lots to think about. My head is still whirring from so many things. Alas, now there be coffee and work, and no time for writing.
Hope all you kiddles are doing well.

Nick's take on the United Church being taken over by 7th Day Adventist Hippies who were having a coffeehouse and smokiong pot when he walked by:
I think it was about the Seventh Day Adventists ... I mentioned that they had taken over the old United Church up the street and then I said I didn't even know what they hell Seventh Day Adventists belived in ...
I said "They seem more like the Hermit Crabs of religious groups. 'OH LOOK, AN EMPTY CHURCH!! LET'S MOVE IN!!

1 - Going to the Rideau Centre to buy a bathing cap with Tatiana. We finish up and decide to head out for a smoke before I head home. Walking down the escalator I see the one person I would rather avoid more than ANYTHING. So I grab Tat and she is saying, "What the hell, what's up? Why are we going this way?" as I drag her to the side door with my face half-smooshed in a magazine. I don't think he saw me. Nick and I both agree this was a smart move as he really is a friend ov Nick's more than mine and tends to be...erm...a little letcherous.
2 - Walking back from aquafit only to see reams ov smoke piling down Murray street. Low and behold! The FIRE OF GOD church was, well, on FIRE! YOU DISPLEASE YOUR LORD and tee hee, you be SMOTED! Remember kids, God does not like when you picket the downtown core in his name!
3 - There is a third, I just can't remember. It's a Tatiana story! Tat's fiancé refuses to believe he snores and every time she complains he tells her that she is just using it as an excuse to not sleep in the same bed as him. So the other night he is so loud that she can hear him in their living room [in their 4000 sq ft home]. She then goes to wake him up and tell him to put in his mouthgard thinger. He whines and says he isn't snoring and that it is just her. So she waits until he falls asleep and calls his office. She fills up his voicemail detailing just how loud his snoring is. I would have paid good money to have seen the look on his face yesterday morning.

So a woman working for Heritage Canada is being asked to quit her job because in her spare time she heads a seperatist organization.
Now, here are some thoughts to consider:
a> the public service commission says that people who work for the public service have the rights to their own beliefs/political beliefs - but you cannot have a conflict ov interest with your job.
b> Having said that, we still have laws governing treason. Regardless ov what you think about the monarchy, those laws are still valid.
c> Her job is to promote Canadian unity, and she manages a program supporting billingualism and culture in Canada [which is weird, cause her English is ASS, but in my experience in the public service, the opposite occurs: more people can't speak French than those who can't speak English].
d> Where does the line get drawn? Personally, I had a hard time working for an organization in private industry whose mandate was completely against my personal beliefs. So, how do we see her within the context ov "just doing my job."
I am on the fence with this one, let me know what you perspective is.....

Ok, so I found airfare for $309.00 CDN, which makes it a steal from Ottawa to Washington D.C.
Now, if other people want to make the hike from Ottawa to Maryland, I am willing to rent a car to split betwixt us all. What this also means is that I need somone else who can drive beside me, so out ov a car ov 5, 1 other must have a license and be over 25.
Also, I am fucking not sleeping with the cicada's or their fucking killers THANK YOU VERY MUCH. Please scope out hotels or generous friends. Goddamn you Americans and your weird bugs.
But MEH, we have WOLVES [well, you do too, but you come here to the COUNTRY]. I have to say the look on all your faces when we said "Like DUH, there are wolves, it's the country!" Was priceless...well, especially hannunvaakuna's.
EDIT: weird bug FAQ!
nota: I highly suspect Jewdy's place is so clean that the cat thing will be a non-issue...besides, Imma getting insurance before I leave. Goddamn lack ov social healthcare. FREAKS.
